Accomplishments

Students selected to All-State Chorus since 1990:  587

South Carolina State Festival winners in 1996, 1997, 1998, 2001, 2002, 2004, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013; “Superior” ensemble rating all years participated.

In March 2016, the Seneca High School Honors Chorale received fourth place honors at the SC State Choral Festival. They earned a score of 294.5 out of 300. They also received a superior rating on their sight singing and captured second place honors.

In March 2016, the Seneca High School Women's Chorus received fourth place honors at the SC State Choral Festival.  They earned a 294.5 out of 300.  They also received a superior rating on their sight singing and placed third.

In March 2015, the Seneca High School Honors Chorale received fifth place honors at the SC State Choral Festival. They earned a score of 288 out of 300. They also received a superior rating on their sight singing.

In March 2015, the Seneca High School Women's Chorus received sixth place honors at the SC State Choral Festival.  They earned a 286 out of 300.  They also received a superior rating on their sight singing.

The Honors Chorale and Madrigal Ensemble competed at the National Heritage Festival in New York City on April 19-22.  The Honors Chorale received the Gold Award and first place in the Concert Choir Division with a score of 291.  The Madrigal Ensemble also received a Gold Rating and won the Chamber Choir Division with a score of 290.  The choirs earned the highest cumulative total and won the Sweepstakes Award.  The Honors Chorale earned the highest number of points of any choral group participating, taking home the Outstanding Choir Award of the competition.  Over 10 states were represented.

In the Spring of 2006, the Honors Chorale, Honors Women's Chorus and Madrigals won their respective categories at the DisneyWorld Festival Disney.  The Honors Chorale and Madrigals received the Festival Disney National Champion Award in the Mixed Choir and Madrigal/Chamber Choir Divisions.

Beginning in December 1991, the Chorale has been invited each year to perform at the Biltmore Estate’s Candlelight Christmas Festival.

Several vocal students have completed their high school musical studies at residential high schools such as the Interlochen School for the Arts in Michigan and the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities. 
Approximately 12 students from around the state are chosen each year to attend the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts Academy, a two- week summer program. During the past seven years, 31 of those chosen have been students from Seneca High School.

In April 2000, the Honors Women's Chorus received a superior rating at the Myrtle Beach National Music Festival. They also earned the highest rating of all musical ensembles competing. The Honors Women's Chorus also received the highest score of all choirs that participated in 12 festivals with over 115 choirs. 

In April 2001, the Honors Women’s Chorus traveled to the Bahamas on the Norwegian Sea Ship.  The received a score of 97 and were the overall grand champion of all the cruise festivals in their category. 

In May of 2002, the Men’s and Advanced Women’s Choirs performed in the Carowinds Choral Festival.  The women’s chorus received a rating of Superior and the Men’s Ensemble received a rating of Excellent.

1998 - London, England, with performances at Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford University; Shakespeare’s Cottage, Stratford-Upon-Avon; Stonehenge.  1999 - Walt Disney World Festival - Superior Rating, 2nd in class.  Superior rating at State Festival--Honors Chorale.

2000 - Honors Women to Myrtle Beach Music Festival; Honors Chorale to New York, NY

2001 - Honors Women to Bahamas Festival Competition Cruise; Honors Chorale performance tour to Vienna, Salzburg, and Munich.  Superior rating at State Festival--Honors Chorale.

2002 - Smoky Mountain Music Festival, First Place Madrigal Choir; Second Place Women's Chorus, Honors Chorale Guest Choir with Greenville Chorale Christmas Concert.  Superior rating at State Festival--Honors Chorale.

2004 - Honors Chorale 1st Place "Mixed Chorus Division", Madrigals; 1st Place "Chamber Ensemble Division" and "Best Chorus; Overall" and "Sweepstakes Award" Virginia Beach, VA   Superior rating at State Festival--Honors Chorale.

2005 - Inverness; Dundee; Loch Lomond; Glamis; Aberdeen; Edinburgh; Scotland Performance Tour at St.Giles Cathedral, Edinburgh Academy and Crown Church.  Honors Chorale selected to perform and the South Carolina State Music Educator's Conference General Session.

2006 - Festival Disney;  Honors Chorale-Superior, Best in Class, Gold Award (Most Outstanding Choir) National Champions Mixed Choir Division, Honors Women-Superior, Best in Class, Silver Award(2nd Outstanding Choir), Madrigals- Superior, Best in Class, Silver Award(2nd Outstanding Specialty). 

2007 - Grand Marshall, Seneca Christmas Parade;  Selected to perform at the State School Board Conference;  NYC Choral Competition at Riverside Church(April, 2007)  Honors Chorale 1st  Place in Concert Choir Division, Madrigals 1st Place Chamber Ensemble Division, Honors Chorale Most Outstanding Choir Award, Honors Chorale and Madrigals Sweepstakes Award.  Superior rating at State Festival--Honors Chorale and Honors Women's Chorus.

2008 - Chicago Choral Competition, Heritage Festival (April 2008); Honors Chorale 1st Place in Concert Choir Division, Madrigals 1st Place in the Vocal Jazz Division, Honors Chorale Most Outstanding Choir Award, Honors Chorale and Madrigals Adjudicator's Award and Sweepstakes Award.  Adrienne Pitre and Rashad Roberson--Outstanding Soloist Award.  Superior rating at State Festival--Honors Chorale and Honors Women's Chorus.

2010- NYC Choral Competition, Heritage Festivals(April 2010)  Honors Chorale 1st Place in Concert Choir Division(3A), Vocal Jazz 1st Place in Jazz Choir Division(2A), Madrigal Ensemble 2nd Place in Chamber Choir Division(2A), Maestro Award for Outstanding Soloists-Haywood Dunston(Honors Chorale) and Sam Burchfield(Vocal Jazz), Sweepstakes Award.  Superior rating at State Festival--Honors Chorale and Honors Women's Chorus.

2011 - Madrigals were selected to sing at the Summer Leadership Institute in Myrtle Beach.  Honors Chorale and Madrigals competed in Festival Disney, April.  Honors Chorale won 1st Place with a Superior Rating in the 2A Division--Concert Choirs, Madrigals won 1st Place with a Superior Rating in the 2A Division--Special Choirs.  Madrigals won 2nd Place Overall in the Special Choirs Division.  Superior rating at State Festival--Honors Chorale and Honors Women's Chorus.

2012 - Nashville Competition, Heritage Festivals, Gold Award, 1st Place of all choirs performing, Adjudicator's Award.  Superior rating at State Festival--Honors Chorale and Honors Women's Chorus.

2013-Honors Women's and Honors Chorale to New York City.  Broadway Workshop with a cast member from the hit Broadway show, "Cinderella".  Superior rating at State Festival--Honors Chorale and Honors Women's Chorus.

2014-Honors Chorale guest Choir with the Greenville Chorale Christmas Concert.  Disney World Workshop with Disney Cast members.  Superior rating at State Festival--Honors Chorale and Honors Women's Chorus.

2015-Honors Women's and Honors Chorale cruise to Bahamas.  Workshop on ship and awarded Gold Rating.  Superior rating at State Festival--Honors Chorale and Honors Women's Chorus.

2016-Honors Women's and Honors Chorale received Superior ratings on Performance and Sight Singing at State Festival.
